2007-02-01 Meeting

WUGS Meeting!
Time: 9:00pm
Place: Gregg Technology Classroom

I am hoping to show off either Terragen or my new copy of Maya, whichever sparks more interest. If you’d like to show off a game, go ahead and bring that in (give me a heads-up so that I know which system to dig up)!

We’ll be showing off some photos from the past two years at GDC as well. :)

Also remember that if you’re considering heading to the GDC this year, please drop a line to either myself or Dan through the Contact page. We have our conference budget appeal coming up and we’d like to have as accurate a count as we can. Thank you!

Game of the Week: Oblivion shall be shown. :D WarioWare for the Wii may will be played. ^_^ Come find out!

Meeting Recap and GDC

Thanks to everyone that came to the first meeting, especially the new members! I hope that we didn’t scare you off with all of our endless babble. :) It’s good-natured, really.

Anyway, if you happened to miss the last meeting, we introduced ourselves and new members. We talked about alums and events and general club goings-on. The program resources that I mentioned are located under the “Tools” tab at the top, and you can get in contact with our officers with the “Contacts” link.

We also spent some time showing off and talking about our new game in Torque, Escape from Dr. Martin’s Lab! It was an exciting 3D experience for all.

We also mentioned the annual Game Developers Conference (http://www.gdconf.com), which some of our members are attending this year. Each year, WUGS covers some of the costs for members, usually hotel costs, to go to the conference and network with people in the industry. It’s great fun! (Just a heads-up, if you’re thinking of attending for three days on the expo pass, the last day for buying a discounted pass is January 30th. It is only $20 more after that deadline, though.)

And we showed off the Wii. ^_^ Soooo if you weren’t here, you missed it again! :O We threw down Rayman, and then pulled out Super Smash Bros. Melee. Come next time for more fun and games!

Spring 2007 First Meeting

Hello, members and new members! Welcome back!

Our first meeting of the semester is tonight at 9:00pm in the Gregg Technology Classroom. (ResTech building, on the Row, South 40.)

We’re going to be showing off the 3D adventure-puzzle game project that some of the officers have been working on since last semester. After some quick discussion about the club and what we do, we’ll be switching to our regularly scheduled Thursday night gaming. ^_^ See you there!

Game of the Week: Super Smash Bros. Melee. The Wii will also be making an appearance.

Subversion Lives!

Hi all! Its your friendly neighborhood webmaster. I sat down with the VP of breaking things (Raber) and setup Subversion. This is a successful transition of the wugs website/subversion/everything off of my personal computer and onto a more permanent hosting environment. For those of you who are new - or those that just don’t listen to my rants - subversion is the latest source control gizmo on the intertron. In real person terms, it acts as a centralized place to store our projects, and it keeps logs of all the old versions of files. You are probably wondering, “But Erik, how do I get access to subversion” or “Hey! I can’t login anymore!!!” the answer is Raber broke things, and any of the officers can add your account info.
